Information used to run the reader
Account records can include a Google account identifier, email address, optional display name, and a hashed server-side session token. Reader settings such as language, launcher preferences, enabled hostnames, and consent state are stored in Chrome storage.
When a reader starts translation, Cosmic Translate receives the selected manga or comic image, its source URL or page context where required, language choices, and a short-lived work record. The image and detected text are used to create the requested in-page translation.
Security and server logs can include an IP address, request time, request route, browser user agent, and response status. They are used only to operate and secure the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.
Glossary and remembered corrections
Account glossary terms contain the original wording and the reader's preferred translation. A manual bubble correction is kept only when the reader explicitly chooses to remember it. Readers can remove glossary entries and remembered corrections from Settings.
Aggregated terminology must not be reused across readers until the published privacy notice, consent basis, retention rules, and deletion process explicitly allow that use.
Billing and reliability records
Stripe hosts Checkout. Cosmic Translate stores Stripe customer, one-time purchase, refund, and dispute identifiers, but does not receive a full card number. The credit ledger records grants, translation charges, automatic restorations, refunds, and reversals so duplicate deliveries do not mint or remove credit twice.
Operational telemetry can include provider and model identifiers, token usage, provider cost, latency, cache status, success or error category, credit amount, and pseudonymous work or user identifiers. Application telemetry is not intended to store raw prompts or panel images.
Service providers and safeguards
Google handles sign-in, Stripe handles hosted payment, DigitalOcean hosts the API and database, and OpenRouter routes a selected panel to an eligible AI provider for translation. These providers process data only to provide their relevant service. Payment credentials are entered into Stripe-hosted Checkout, not Cosmic Translate.
Current safeguards include HTTPS, server-held API and billing secrets, signed Stripe webhooks, bounded image uploads, per-site browser permissions, schema validation, and account-scoped credit and translation records.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Cosmic Translate's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User data is used or transferred only as necessary to provide or improve the extension's disclosed manga and comic translation purpose, maintain and secure that functionality, comply with applicable law, or complete a user-requested support action. It is not sold or used for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising, unrelated profiling, creditworthiness, or lending.
Humans do not read user content except with the user's affirmative consent for a specific support case, when necessary for security or abuse investigation, to comply with applicable law, or after the data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.
Reader choices
Readers can disable automatic translation, remove a site's permission, hide the launcher, sign out, remove glossary terms, delete remembered corrections, and uninstall the extension. For account export, correction, deletion, or privacy requests, email subin.wutt@gmail.com. We aim to complete verified account-deletion requests within 30 days, except for records we must retain for billing, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.
Retention and contact
Selected panel image bytes are used in active translation work and are not stored in Cosmic Translate's durable run database. Derived OCR, image hashes, and translation cache entries expire after at most 180 days of inactivity; completed run metadata is swept after 24 hours and reliability telemetry after 365 days. Server access and error logs rotate daily with up to 14 rotated copies. Billing and credit-ledger records are retained for five years after the relevant transaction, or longer only where law or an active dispute requires it.
